Foxinsox wrote hi all just thought i d share a tip if anyone is looking for a cheap and easy phono preamp that is suitable for ceramic cartridges.
Ceramic cartridge going stiff.
It s true that ceramics have a higher output and will follow roughly the riaa curve but it s also true that they really need a high impedance input which is likely on a valve tube amp but unlikely on a solid state auxiliary input.
Compression faucets use o rings to create a watertight seal inside the faucet.
No modification to the actual circuitry is needed.
Faucets that use ceramic cartridges do not become stiff versus a compression faucet that eventually does.
Wide spread faucets are common.
I posted a simple preamplifier using a single transistor.
Wovier replacement single handle faucet cartridge ceramic disc valve 35mm diameter 2 pcs 4 7 out of 5 stars 23 hansgrohe m3 m2 single hole faucet cartridge 2 inch spare part in 92730000.
Other times there is a rubber brass or ceramic seat in the bottom of the cartridge opening which is actually forming the seal.
These parts can become damaged by the movement of the cartridge as it opens and closes.
These consist of the mounts for the ceramic reeds and especially the bridge which transmits vibrations from the cantilever to the reeds.
Ceramic cartridges are designed for a 3 10g weight as opposed to the older types working under pressure at 28g ouch.
As you twist the faucet s handles the turning of the valve stem increases or decreases the flow of water through the faucet.
Because internal ceramic plates move to control the water flow not exterior o rings and the unit must be replaced.
On ceramic cartridges the most common failures as mentioned above are that the flexible elements in the cartridge will harden.
