The elastics themselves don t show up all on the front and constant visits will replace the old bands with new clear ones. Patients with ceramic braces tend to choose tooth colored or clear bands so to match or blend in with the overall look of their braces.

However ceramic braces do use clear plastic bands called ligatures to hold the wire in place. Ceramic braces tend to be less durable than metal braces. Ceramic appliances use essentially the same components as metal braces and achieve much the same results. This means the braces blend in with the teeth and are much less obvious from a distance.

Light elastic bands especially clear or white often look great at first but then due to exposure to foods and beverages become stained and visually detracting. Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces in terms of structure but they re less noticeable because they use clear or tooth colored brackets rather than gray or metallic colored components.
